Kent
“Born and raised in Iowa, I moved here in 2000 and opened the cafe in the summer of 2003 as Coffee Crafters, one block down on Vine and Houston streets. The rebranding to Toast Cafe occurred in mid 2011 to draw attention to the variety of delicious food choices at the cafe.
I have been working at Delta since 1990 in many different roles from slinging bags and cleaning planes, to slinging Coke and food trays on board many a Delta flight. I use my career at Delta to also encourage the flavor of the menu and take in the sites of the world as I love to travel, eat and drink!
I love writing, tennis, running and now racing in marathons as its far cheaper than the therapy it would take to keep all of things in my life in order. I would say I love to read just to sound more intelligent however lets face it… unless its a beer or wine label, I will just wait for the movie! Also, I attended university at Arizona State helped to build the knowledge I have about how people and this crazy business operate.

Katie Wells wandered into Coffee Crafters in fall of 2010 and never walked out. She graduated in 2010 at UTC with a degree in Political Science and hasn’t figured out how to use it yet but she’s having fun taking her time. She loves serving up the best house roasted coffee in Chattanooga, feeding people until they are happy and trying to be Kent’s arch nemesis. In her spare time she likes to travel, be outdoors and talk books and politics. Come visit her. She’s friendly I swear.

I’ve been a Coffee Crafters customer since I moved to Chattanooga 2 1/2 years ago. When Toast opened I started coming in much more because I love the food. When I heard there was an opening to work a few shifts a week, I was excited and started as soon as possible. So far everything about this job has been great. Kent’s a great boss, everyone is great to work with, and I like being a cashier and getting to know the customers.
